EN 9

EN9 is BS 970 standard. BS 970 is one steel specification for wrought steel for mechanical and allied engineering purposes. It specifies requirements for carbon and carbon manganese, alloy, free-cutting and stainless steels normally supplied in the bright cold finished condition. It is only applicable to steels supplied in straight lengths.

Applications for EN 9 steel

EN8 steel material is suitable for the all general engineering applications requiring a higher strength than mild steel such as:

  • Shafts
  • Gears
  • Bolts
  • Crank Shafts
  • Cylinders
  • Sprockets
  • Mainly used in Machine parts which require moderate wear resistance.
